If you do choose to exchange your money in Scotland you may receive either Pounds printed from Scottish banks or English notes. Both options spend the same, but you might get some strange looks if you bring your Scottish money into England. Cashiers have to accept it on account of it being legal tender, but you might get some suspicious looks none the less.
